WATCH IT! THOU TONGUE AT LOOSE!

How the mighty have fallen like the dried leaves of a tree, spreading far & wide over the ground as the ferocious winds blow them whichever way it pleases. So sad that a war or a dispute can arise just out of the words that are said in vain, without the thought of the repercussions. We are a talking nation, always yapping about this & that, not that it is a crime to converse but come on, what sense do we usually talk about.
Did you know that the tongue is like a double edged sword, yes it is! It can kill without drawing blood such is its great power. Fire & swords are slow engines of destruction, compared to the tongue of a gossip. There is nothing that so much gratifies an ill tongue as when it finds an angry heart, then it becomes the fuel that ignites the kind of speech that one will regret once the words leave the mouth.
The two things we can never ever get back are time and the words we utter. Once time passes by it can no longer be re-winded as this a one way trip, you snooze you loose as the show must go on either with you or without you. Words once they leave the tip of your tongue & come out of your mouth, have no way of been swallowed back as they free from the clutches of your heart.
They can be medication & at the same time they can become a poison They have a healing essence around them in consoling of hearts & the mending of souls. Other times they can tear down & destroy the walls built over a period of time. It all depends on how, when & where they are used & against whom! Let us not abuse our words nor misuse the tongue.
There is a common Swahili phrase that goes like this, “Mungu alitupa masikio mawili na ulimi mmoja. Tunatakiwa kusikiliza zaidi kuliko kuongea”. All to show us that we are meant to be more of listeners than we are supposed to be of talkers. Anybody can become angry – that is easy, but to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose & in the right way – that is not within everybody’s power & is not easy.
Anger is a formidable force it is neither good nor bad. The most crucial thing about it, is what you do with it is what matters. You can either use it to build or to destroy, thus hold your tongue whenever you know you are about to speak in anger. For anger is one letter short of danger and it is a short lived madness that has broken the strongest of bonds and tore down the highest of walls.
