Well, here we are yet again having entered graciously into another year, filled with expectations, resolutions for some of us to achieve, dreams to conquer, goals to tick off our bucket list & so on. It has been quite a roller coaster ride with the passing of the year that has being, all of us going through our own battles of loss, gain, pain, fear, cheer, fury, disappointment & many such feelings.
How
we managed to pull through, is like the 8th wonder of the world, but in my opinion,
God did hold us together. This notion of being his strongest soldier has nearly
driven us mad, wondering when will it all end as at the time, each turn you
took it led you down some dark spiraling hole of unimaginable moments, leaving
you with a bitter taste in your mouth.
“ A smile is the electricity and life is the battery. Whenever you smile, the battery gets charged and a beautiful day is activated”.
As we embrace the new year, one can look over his/her shoulder & really wonder to self, “how did I manage to pull through with all that was coming at me from all angles?” Indeed, the storm that was has now quietened down & we have now gained back some sort of sanity & realization that the world is not as we thought it to be with the clearing of the grey skies. It has been an abyss with a never-ending twists & turns that have brought out all of your various characters to the fore.
It is, at these moments that we have come to the understanding of who our actual real friends are & who actually got our backs. The coming to understand that family is not necessarily blood but those who have being with us through the good times, the trying times, those who picked our calls, those who helped us in our times of need, those who offered a shoulder to lean on, those who offered a hand to guide us in the darkness, those who sent a message to just check up on us/even cheer us up, those who just visited to sit with you quietly as you fought the demons in your head & just being there for you.
It has not been a walk in the merry park but a discovery that our mortality is not guaranteed & that as we take in the moments, we ought to live them to the fullest, appreciating what & who we have. Battles have been fought & wars won & others lost. The good & the bad times have caught up with all of us, one way or another & we have kept wondering when is it all going to end.
I
want you to know that one of the best things that could have ever happened to you
is that you have seen today, which is a gift. On a side note, in all that you
do remember that those who hurt you the most are the one’s who are closest to
you. They will hug you looking for a soft spot on your back to stab you. “Just
because they showed up does not mean they got your back. Judas attended every prayer
meeting”.
“You know my name not my story, you have heard what I have done, not what I have been through”.
Healing is
weird, some days you are okay & you are doing just fine. Other days it
still hurts like it is fresh. It is a process with no definitive time frame.
You just have to keep going, and know that when it is all said & done, “you
are going to be okay”. You are going to make it okay here, I trust you. Despite it being like a roller coaster, some days, you are on the high, feeling good
& steady, other days, it is like a dip, the pain is back. But here is the
thing, it is a journey with a lot of twists but you have to take steps forward
on those rough days. Be kind to yourself. Imagine each step is a victory even
the small ones. Healing is a messy masterpiece and time is its paintbrush,
“keep going”. When all is said & done, you will look back & see how far
you have come.
I will leave with
you with some rules of life that I chanced along the journey of life:
1. Make peace with your past it does not affect the present – Let it go
2.What others think if you is none of your business – ignore them
3.Time heals almost everything, give it time.
4.Don’t compare your life to others and don’t judge them. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
5.It is alright not to know all the answers. They will come to you when you least expect it – stay calm
6.You are in charge of your happiness – it is on you
7.Smile, you don’t own all the problems in the world.
As we forge
forward in the times ahead, we shall take this time to talk to Abba Father:
Our everlasting Father up in heaven, we come before you Lord saying thank you for all that you have done for us. It is not by our might that we have seen yet another year, but it is as per your will that we are alive & well. Gracious Lord, you have shown us your ways by granting us the very breath in our lungs. We are humbled to be called your children. You have showered us with your blessings & taken us through life & all that it had thrown at us. We are grateful Lord, that you chose us to see yet another day which is not a guarantee. I pray Father that your Will, will be done in our lives. As we take on this year, may your favour be upon us, for you are the most High God. Lord Jesus, we seek you in all that we do & pray you shall go before us. In Jesus name we pray & believe. Amen!
